Your news startled me this afternoon. You had told me long ago that you had put your name in for a Commission, but as it had not led to anything as yet, I had concluded that for some reason, possibly political, it would continue to lead to nothing: & I cant say I was not very sorry. However that was not facing my duty and I must now be as glad as I can that you will again be serving the Empire, & I hope you will come through as fortunate as in S.A.
